Is there a 12 step program for.....

People who are addicted to make-up?!! Now I am no hoarder, but today when I was cleaning my bathroom I thought," Hmmmm... maybe I should go through this mess and just keep what I use on a daily bases.." And I found myself with a trash bag, standing in front of the mess I dumped on the counter unwilling to part with anything! I have over 7 different kinds of foundations and 54 different eye shadow! a fist full of mascaras and 20 million lip glosses. I just kept looking at an item and saying to myself," No, I might need that, oh there's only a little bit left....I could get ONE more use." Satisfied with my own response I set it back into my make-up basket and moved on. The only thing I ended up throwing away was an old Q-tip and a broken eyeshadow case. I'm pretty sure at lest one of the mascaras is over 3 years old! Still could part. I wonder how many other girls/woman are like this. Is it natural to be a make-up hoarder? Lol♥

Express app for smart phones

I was so stoked when I came across this app for my phone, Its for the store Express and it has the coolest gadgets! One it has a barcode scanner and will locate any item made by Express, if you're shopping and can't find a price just scan it yourself! And two, it has a mobil wish list! You can "pre-shop" on your phone. Tell it which store you're going to and it will tell you what they'll have on hand, save it and find the items when you get there! So cool, here's my list. Cant wait to go out with my honey!

♥Awe Moments♥

Now I had heard before about this movie, Yes I know how long its been out, but I had never seen it. But girls have always said to me it was the ultimate love stories and the best one to watch with your man, So last week as I was flipping threw the TV guide, I saw it was going to be on so I set it to be recorded. I was actually pretty excited! I told my honey we we're going to cuddle up on the couch with some kettle corn and a soft blanket and watch it. Ok! Now it was a excellent movie but how come nobody told me it was such a tear jerker? I was freakin BALLING!! Like a BABY!! In between sobs telling my husband,"I...Hope....you...Love me....like that.... when ...we're old..." Lol I had such a hard time sleeping! I was so Stopped up from crying, Its gotta be there worst part! you can breath, have a runny nose and you sure don't look attractive in a state like that! Lol maybe with a little tear running down your cheek your honey will say,"Awe, come here Baby. I promise we'll be that cute." But when you look like the wicked witch of the west melting in a pool of mascara and a steady stream of snot flowing from your nose, I was lucky he remained on the couch!  This week we're going to go see No strings Attached, Looks promising! No tissues should be needed! Hopefully♥

Closet Envy.

After checking into some sites on how to organize my closet, oh be quite I know what you're thinking, "Duh Amie you just hang it up or set in on the shelf!" Yeah yeah I know how to do that but sometimes I want to walk into my closet and feel inspired! Not dreading trying to make my way through. check out these closets.

Christina A.
Fergie
Eva Longoria
I decided to take Fergies closet for inspiration since my closet too is white, only thing missing is a zebra rug! But with the amazing weather we had today spring fever began to set in and away I went throwing everything onto the floor. My closet served many purposes. It stored bed Linens, scrap booking supplies, riding gear, boxes of items I couldn't part with ect. I felt so great afterwards when I walked in and all my shoes were organized and my hand bags set out on the shelves, for a minute I felt stylish sophisticated. As I stood in my door way looking in I felt great pride. I took back my closet, minus the left side that is my husband's. Ugh don't get me started on that chaos. Lol. But it felt great to finally throw out those old maternity clothes that I'll never wear again and stained shredded things that are better off as cleaning rags in the garage! All was right in my world.... until I realized my 3 year old flooded  his bathroom but pulling up the plug in the sink and leaving the water running, there went my 5 minutes of basking in my accomplishment!
Ugh feels so bare now that I've donated and thrown so much out! Time to replenish!♥

Teaching about saving $

As she is our first, it's hard to explain to her how money works. Not everyone is just givin money and its not always just going to be there when you need it. I know my kids think the AMT is this magic oversize candy dispenser that maybe if you hit all the buttons on it juuuussst right, you'll hit the jackpot! So lately Bobby and I have really been pushing the issue of McKenzie can earn money around the house. She can get it by doing her chores and at the end of the week. If she has made her bed, help set the table, put dishes in the sink and take her laundry into the laundry room she gets roughly $1.50. Now that may not sound like alot to you and me but 6 quarters to a 6 year old.... that's alot of gum from the grocery store! But we wanted to teach her not to just go and blow it either. If she saves it she can get something much bigger and better. Waiting is hard, I know! So the game is set that she collects her change into a jar and when its full she gets to go into the bank with daddy, just like an adult and deposit it by herself. I was shocked when she was so hooked on it! It was in fact a reward itself to do that! I know most parents don't think about but teaching your child about those small things now will be very beneficially in the future. Especially for now that when she goes in to deposit her moo-lah she forgets about it and is just ready to fill the jar again. I cant wait till she's 16 and has enough money in the bank to buy her own car!

Whippy Cakes and Cherry Trees oh my!♥

Lol I've been on the computer too long tonight and Im ending it with this. Oh Em Gee!! I love these style, finally finding someone who hits the nail on the head for how I like to dress! The website is whippycakes.com and they have the cutest things!
I also remember a booth that we visited at our local Art and Air festival last year, it was called Cherry Tree Studio, she made these custom necklaces on-site.
She stamps out whatever message you'd like. She also can take a photo and place it in a silver pendant and cover it in a resin seal. Super cool, I say check her out if she's there this year or see her site(http://cherrytreephoto.blogspot.com/)

Someday I will learn how to do this, I've seen so many local craft stores that sell the stuff to do it. I could only imagine what my necklace would look like, loaded up with a million little pictures! Lol Ok Im off to go finish a movie with my one and only! Night world!

Spring!

Its Outfits like these that just make spring seem so far away!
When girls hair lightens up, the glow returns to our skin! *Sigh* I seriously can't wait to pull out the ol' razor back tops and the Bermuda shorts, of course I'm a super fan of Capri's. Hang in there girls... only a few more months!♥♥♥

Just Lovely

If you're into supporting local artist and business here's one for you! Her name is Angela. She makes the most stunning accessories I have ever seen or owned! My bestie Sarah presented me with a headband made by her for Christmas. I have a turquoise jacket that it matches perfectly! Anywhos, I just got done looking at her Etsy.com page and was like"I gotta spread the word!" If you're a bride or just a girl that likes to spiff up an everyday outfit here and there, these are for you! Here's her link, check it out! http://www.etsy.com/shop/angelabythesea?ref=top_trail
This one is mine and I wear it all the time, The feathers are still in amazing shape after wearing it so much , and the roses haven't frayed either! The Band itself has gripies that keep it from sliding around or too far back. Which is nice cause my hair is so silky sometimes its slippery. Highly highly recommend checking her out and exploring her page!

I ♥ Toddler clothes!

I love get so excited when I see fun funky clothing for babies and toddlers. They always look so adorable! I found this find after looking for a few items for my 3 year old. The Mohawk Hoodie at Rock & Rattle. Granted, I would never let my son have a real mohawk, but this fauxhawk is so freakin cute!  Now he can have one when he has his hood up! The hoodies come in three colors, the mohawks are removable, and they are interchangeable too! If you prefer, you can have a bow instead of a mohawk on the top of the hood too.
Also a fun and easy project is buying plain white onsies and hitting up a local Joann's Fabric or Michael's and buying some iron on decals to make custom outfits, I saw these iron on ties a few times and thought they were super adorable!

Another trend are those leg warmer looking things they have for babies now, not only do they look so dang cute, but they also serve a very good purpose. Have you ever tried crawling around non stop on bare knees? Poor babies indeed! I bought some for my friend Brittney's little girl and I gotta admit a small part of my wished they came in my size! But how good would that look? Turns out Mama can rock leg warmers in heels too!

Mmmm a lil bit of Home!

When I'm not living in the old North West I live it up in my other home, San Diego. Oh these cold winter days make me crave a little sunshine and beach. Whenever I think of San Diego a scene *pops* into the front of my mind and suddenly I'm no longer looking at Ever green trees and grey skies, Nope I'm seeing waves crashing on warm sand, seeing bicycles riding up and down the boulevard and next I smell Rubio's Fish Tacos. Maybe its ingrained into my brain because I'm forever connected to the memories of eating them there with my dad or maybe I crave them because Oregon doesn't offer such amazing delights in any local restaurants. I'm not sure what it is about the combonation of a Rubio's fish taco and the San Diego life style, but its these dreary Oregon winters that make my tummy and heart ache for warmer zesty foods!
I've personally tried this recipe and LOVE it! So if you find yourself wondering is there more on the menu that you haven't thought of, here it is. All cheap ingredients and simple to prepare! Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup beer

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 lime, juiced

1 jalapeno pepper, minced

1 teaspoon minced capers

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed

1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

1 quart oil for frying

1 pound cod fillets, cut into 2 to 3 ounce portions

1 (12 ounce) package corn tortillas

1/2 medium head cabbage, finely shredded

Directions

1.To make beer batter: In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Blend egg and beer, then quickly stir into the flour mixture.

2.To make the white sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together yogurt and mayo. Slowly stir in fresh lime juice until consistency is slightly runny. Season with jalapeno, capers, oregano, cumin, dill, and cayenne.

3.Heat oil up in a skillet or if you have a deep fryer to 375* F .

4. Drop fish into beer batter, and fry until crisp and golden brown. take out and set on paper towels, and pat it dry. Lightly fry tortillas; not too crisp.
I shred the cabbage and add about 1/4 cup of mayo. Mix it up in a bowl and set aside.

To serve, place fried fish in a tortilla, and top with shredded cabbage, and white sauce. and a good squeeze of lime over it. The white sauce isn't mandatory, sometimes I eat it just tortilla fish cabbage mix and lime. Super Yummy!

Tye Dye Cupcake fun

Its a little more work than making normal plain cupcakes, but kids get such a huge kick out of taking a bite and Wow!! a rainbow!! Here  are some simple steps to making these yourself. Sarah and I made them this morning for her daughters birthday!

Start by making white cake mix, here we used 2 boxes of Betty Crocker white cake mix, Separate it into as many bowls as there will be colors, we had the whole rainbow, so 6 bowls. Add food coloring to the mixes. the more coloring the brighter the cake!! mix the colors in good so no white is showing!

Then pour the different colors in their own zip lock bags and seal them tightly, removing as much air as you can!

Remember the order you pour the colors is how they'll bake.We started with red and layered it up to purple. Bake at 350* for 17-18 minutes and let them cool, We made our simple buttercream and sprinkled our rainbow sprinkles on them and Tada! done. Super easy and Super fun! Enjoy!♥

Great Jeans

whats up with this image? it wont go away!! LOL

I admit it completely! I adore my tore-up and beat up jeans. I know there are many who look at most of my jeans with a wince, thinking, "Why oh why would you pay money for jeans that look like they got shredded by a teething puppy? You look like you were dragged by a truck– surely you didn't do this on purpose?"

Yes, I did. And I do, I love them! Theres lots of us woman who do! Sometime the problem for me is, how do I get taken seriously when wearing jeans that have holes in them? How do I wear them without looking like a homeless person? Or worse – a 15-year-old girl?
My answer: I dress them up. I figure if I look like a grown-up from the waist up and the ankles down, no one will question my fashion sense. I pretend it's OK. Because it is.
OK?

On the other hand and complete opposite of the scale I've come to love my skinny jeans. The jean trend I swore I would never fall into after poking fun at our 15 yr old neighbor boy. But when I found the right lenght and tried it on with some adorable flats, I was hooked. Nowadays I could never wear anything wider than a bootcut. It'd be perfect if I could find a skinny boot. wonder if that's a real style? My favorite skinnies are classics from levi in black, they go either everything! My best friend Sarah has a lil girl Audrey and today she was wearing the cutest dark wash skinny jeans with a plaid shirt and I found myself pondering if maybe Target carried them in my size.... Prob not. oh well.♥

Love seeing this stuff!

I love going to our local farmers markets around here in the spring and summer time. Sometimes you come acrossed these amazing artist that do chalk work. I was telling one of my friends about them and she told me about this guy who does most of his work in London.
Julian Beever is an English artist who is famous for his anamorphic art on the pavements of England, France, Germany, USA. He gives an amazing illusion to his drawings, so that the objects appear to be three dimensional rather than flat as they actually are.
Make Poverty History - side view is 40 ft long

This is what it looks like from any angle.

But when you get far enough back and squat down this is what it looks like! How cool is that?!!
Makes my little cupcake tagging we did around town look like trashy graffitti!
